Today I watched Episode 4 of I Love Lucy. The air date was November 5, 1951. Lucy is reading a mystery novel and Ricky has some interesting props he brings home for his nightclub show and it includes a toy gun. Ethel reads Lucy’s fortune and predicts death and hijinks ensure! Lucy tells herself the story that Ricky is trying to murder her.
And all this got me thinking…how many times do we make our own stories about what is going on in our lives? A lot. How many times are the stories right? Hmm…maybe at best sometimes? All this made me pause and really think - what am I creating stories about that I might be completely wrong about? How could I be wrong though - I am so sure with certainty of my stories ;) Lol - it is because I tell these stories to myself over and over again so much that they become my truth. What if I stepped back and looked at the stories I have and started to ask myself are they a 100% true? That would be wild because what if I just had curiosity to go and find out if my stories were true vs ruminating in my own head? What if?
Sometimes we need to get out of our head and drop into what is and starting asking ourselves questions to spark our curiosity that break up the untrue stories that we have living in our head.
